The Art of Making Slowly
Slowmade is our commitment to intention—where time, care, and restraint shape every formula we create.
LUMINUS began with handmade soap, created slowly in small batches from my Tasmanian studio. That same approach continues today, as our focus has evolved into botanical hair and scalp care designed for changing, mature, and sensitive hair.
For us, slowmade is more than a way of working. It is a philosophy.
Every LUMINUS formula is developed with patience and purpose. From the first spark of an idea, through ingredient selection, formulation, testing, and refinement, each step is carefully considered. Nothing is rushed. We believe exceptional products are created when there is time to observe, learn, and improve.
Working in small batches allows us to stay true to our values: simplicity, performance, and quality over quantity. It allows us to carefully select botanical oils, plant extracts, proteins, and naturally derived ingredients for the benefits they bring to hair and scalp—not simply because they are trending, but because they have a purpose.
Above my desk, a whiteboard reads: “Be Better. Do Better.” Simple words, but a guiding principle for everything we do.
Our ingredients are precious, and we honour them. Each oil, butter, extract, and botanical active is carefully selected, thoughtfully combined, and formulated to create products that support healthy hair, scalp comfort, softness, strength, and vitality.
Slowmade also gives us the opportunity to grow with intention. We learn from every batch, refine our techniques, and continue improving our formulas before sharing them with you. We never move forward simply because something is finished—we move forward when it feels considered, balanced, and right.
As LUMINUS has evolved from handmade soaps into botanical haircare, our philosophy has remained unchanged: create beautiful products with integrity, respect the ingredients we work with, and give every detail the attention it deserves.
In a world that moves quickly, we choose to make with intention.
Because thoughtful care takes time.
